Pre / Nike visual concept
Updated 3 October 2026. /demos/nike now presents the original Nike brand character as Pre, inspired by Steve Prefontaine. It is not a recreation of his literal identity, biography or voice. Nike's brand identifier and research scope remain intact; the display name, portrait and hero copy are presentation data in Digital DNA. Voice remains a research draft requiring review.
The page uses black/white, electric orange, oversized italic type, track-like rings and the shared living-orb system. The brand pages and Business Manager keep their existing styles.
Typography uses locally installed Futura first (available on the development Mac), then Futura PT if available, then the bundled Jost variable font. No commercial Futura font file is redistributed. Jost is a geometric fallback rather than the official Nike font; its SIL Open Font License accompanies the file in app/demos/fonts/Jost-OFL.txt.

Commons classifies the photograph as public domain in the United States under publication-without-notice rules, while noting territory-specific limitations. This source classification is not worldwide image or personality-rights clearance for commercial deployment. A local copy is used in this independent illustrative concept and credited on the page. The image has a CSS monochrome/contrast treatment; the original asset is retained.
